4th Grade Trip to the Nature Station of L.B.L. (Land Between the Lakes)

It was a damp and chilly day, but that didn't stop the fun and outdoor explorations in L.B.L. on March 30, 2011. Thanks to Mr. Payne's hard work and a grant from the Friends of L.B.L., the 4th graders had the opportunity to hike the Woodland Walk Trail, observing nature at its finest. Along the mile-long trail, students studied Kentucky's native trees and plants, as well as the waterfowl on Honker Lake.   (read more below photos)
The indoor portion of our time at the Woodland Nature Station included an interactive show called, "In Cold Blood." The 4th graders demonstrated their impressive knowledge of reptiles and amphibians and were even allowed to inspect some creatures "up close and personal!"

McNabb Students Visit Murray State University

On September 22, 2010,  22 of McNabb’s young authors were honored at the Purchase Area Writing Project fall conference in the Curris Center ballroom at Murray State University. These students were not only published last May in the Project’s Anthology, Dare to Dream, they were also commended for their outstanding efforts! (This is noted in the book with the phrase "Taking Flight" beside each commended piece.) Way to go, writers!

Thank You, Southside Wal-Mart for your generous donation!
