I think I can be a fireman. It
can be a good thing to do for the world
I will use a hammer
I will wear a black shirt and black pant.

Playing the Guitar by Leighann
I think I can play a guitar
it is my instrument.
I would like red hair,
sassy. My clothes, black.
I would hold my guitar
my left hand on the neck.
Right hand doing the strumming.
I will be tall and hot,
even happy and exciting.
My face, hot and funny.
I think I can be
a great guitar master.

Makel
I wanted to play football but I was
afraid. First, I tried to throw the football.
I had to bend my knees and look straight
I tried to play for fullback, had to run the ball
and fake the ball. Then I tried out for receiver.
I was on the right side. I had to put my run
straight and cut left.

Saturday I went to the skating rink with Kaitlin.  It was the first time that I went there. It was bigger than I thought. I sat down on the floor and put my skates on to go skating. When I got up off of the floor it was hard to walk.  I walked around and did not fall but I thought I was going to fall.

I went on the rink after Kaitlin. I thought to myself I think I can, I think I can.  Then I got better and I could skate.  Good! This was the day I thought I could skate and I could.

How I Become a Dog Trainer by Grayce
I think I can become a dog trainer.  I train my dogs very well.  I walk my dogs.  One day my dogs got away.  They ran away. I looked scared.  I was shaking really fast. I was scared I was never going to get them back. I chased them and finally I got them.  I went to the library and got a book about dogs.

I read every book I could find about dogs.  I learned to train them not to bark at the wrong time. I learned to give them fresh food and water.  I can become a dog trainer.

One night I said “I think I can, I think I can.”   The next morning I walked the dogs.  My mom said, “Hey Grayce, come inside. Grayce it’s cold outside.” I came inside and sat at the fireplace.  I watched a movie about dogs and I took good care of them.

The day I was going to jump off the diving board I was scared. I tried to bend down but I was shaking. The problem was that I was terrified and I was holding up the line.

When I was finally going to jump my cousin Chris said, “You can do it!” So I jumped in!  It was a blast! Now every summer I go to the swimming pool I can jump off the diving board without getting scared or shaking. I can just jump in. Wow! My brother and my cousins are proud of me because I accomplished what I thought couldn’t do!

January 11 I had a basketball game at First Baptist Church with my team. I stepped on the basketball court. I was nervous when I tried to shoot from the three-point range. I missed it. Everybody laughed. Then I got the ball back.
My hands were sweaty when I got the ball. I stopped dribbling and I bent my knees. I put my hands in the air and shot it. I said, "I think I can,” and I made it! I was so proud of myself. Then everybody clapped. I was smiling. I was just proud. We won that game that night, 18-04.

Being a hairdresser by Ke’Ara
I want to be a hairdresser when I grow up. I really like to watch my grandmother and my mom. I would really like to cut hair. I try to cut my baby dolls hair. I always try to put pink color in her hair. I always try to wash it with my mom’s shampoo. I would really love to do hair. I will put the cape on my customer .I will comb her hair then I will wax her eyebrows and wash her hair and put some conditioner in her hair. I will put her under the dryer and put my combs in the barber side and blow her out and she is ready to go.

I can play football. I will be
rich and will play for the Saints.
In a game I will make a touchdown.
It will be like this -
I have the ball. I bend my legs and
throw the ball. The wide  receiver catches it. He
runs to the touchdown.  We kick it off.  I
fumble the ball then get the ball back and
run to the touchdown. We win 20 to 5!

Once upon a time I was at the Noble Park pool. I was jumping in the pool. I got out and jumped in the deep side then I
remembered I couldn't swim in the deep water. I cried for help and the lifeguard saved me. That’s my story of deep water. Next summer I am going to take lessons to learn how to swim in deep water. Now I think I can swim in deep water.

It started on an early day. It would be a scary day because it was my first day of school. I had to get my clothes on. Then I had to get on my bus. I saw people I did not know.  I had to find the room. It was hard to find the room. I went to two rooms. When I went to the first room I did not have to go there. The second one I had to go there and saw some children. There were ninety kids. I was scared. I said I think I can I think I can! Then I sat down with someone. I went to my teacher and asked can I be alone for a day. The next day I sat with people. It was fun. The first day was scary. I was surprised that they were nice. This is the day when I thought I could and I made many friends.

Here's to keeping your New Year's resolutions!

Picture
My resolution is to care for my pets. I will take my dog on a walk. I will clean up after her. I will make sure to feed her. I will play with her.   Ja’Quan Farr

My resolution is to have my own business. I want to own a store so I can be as rich as Michael Jordan. Also, I will give most of the money to a donation. Finally, I will give the rest to my mom.   Shawn Reese

My resolution is to do chores. I have too many toys from Christmas. I will make sure my room is clean. It is all messed up. It will be clean everyday if I clean it. So that is my resolution.    Latavia

My resolution is to get no marks for the rest of the week. I will be nice to my friends. I will be nice to Mrs. Wright. I should stop talking in class. Then I could go to Fun Friday!  Tymar Halliburton

Halloween by Tymar Halliburton
Halloween is spooky
and scary
like a ghost
on a spooky night.
Out trick-or-treating
with a costume on,
even on a dark spooky night.
Every Halloween I go to
Talon Falls. And then
Halloween is over.

The Haunted House by Ke’Ara Douglas
The haunted house looks like a mansion
with busted windows and spooky shadows,
flying curtains. It stays on a hill with its busted
door and pumpkins made out of rocks. There’s
a cat in the window. Cat shadows, ghost shadows,
a chair with hands, a skeleton in the window.
Chimney burning, scissors cutting,
vampires walking, clowns juggling,
scarecrows dancing, dogs crying,
cats running. That’s the haunted house.

Halloween by Dezjuan Bellamy
Halloween is in fall.
Fall is cold.

Monsters by Makel Askew
Monsters are
scary. Monsters are
hairy. Monsters are tough,
they are buff. They
are rough. They are big,
they are tall, and they got
sharp teeth and
long nails. It’s in my
closet.
I looked in and there
was nothing there. I heard
something again.
I was scared and I
hid under my bed.

One Day by Jamari House
One day I was walking and talking.
I saw a shadow and I started running.

Ghost by Brandon Grubbs
Someone is in my home.
He came in my room at night
and he’s going into my mom’s room.
He’s going to my mom’s room
and he’s tall. Mom, good night.

Night Story by Leigh Ann Hill
At night I heard a noise and a mouse in my house.
Ghosts are strange in my house.
Halloween, watch them go trick or treat.
Full moon in the sky, so big and shiny,
at night.

Spooky by Tyrece Phillip

One day I was
walking down the street.
I heard something spooky.
I was afraid.
I heard bats flying.

Vampire by Kaitlin Cohoon
Vampires, vampires are scary.
The vampires turn into bats.
They will suck your blood
when they come out at night.

Halloween Night by Bethani Gracye Stokes
Once upon a time a stranger came by and my mom was not home. She was at work and I was scared. The stranger knocked. I didn’t see a car, but my window creaked. A stranger knocked again and he saw me. I ran and got under my covers. He knocked harder and harder. He broke my window so I ran into the laundry room. He heard my mom come home so he hid. My window cracked and cracked that night. There was a full moon. I was really sad. The stranger was not seen by the cops. “He’s gone. You’re all right now,” they said. My mom said she wasn’t okay but they told her she was and they left. I was fine but glad Halloween night was over!

The Haunted House by J’Marcus Hill
The haunted house was on top of a big hill. On Halloween night in the haunted house, the windows were open. There was a chair that had hands on it. When people sit on it, the hair will move. The house was very scary. The house stairs make loud noises and the person coming down them looks like a ghost with black eyes and a white body that floats. It always says Boo! When I saw it, I jumped because it scared me. Somebody knocked on the door. Somebody busted in the windows. It was a ghost that had black eyes with a white body, same as the other one. Then I remembered it was Halloween. It wasn’t really a ghost! Just a person in a costume!

One Night by Marlon Dunivin
One night I was walking along the road then I came to a dead end. I was lost. It was black. I saw a scarecrow that was black with red eyes and black boots with a hat. It came closer and closer! He chased me. I nearly lost him. Finally I make it back home.

 Halloween by Aleasha Moore
Today is Halloween, scariest day of the year. Aleasha is out alone trick or treating. Something is following her. She turns, but nothing is there. Aleasha is frightened and scared. Something reached out and touched her and she turned as fast as she could. Aleasha said come out wherever you are. She ran and took a shortcut. Aleasha was running so fast but it was dark. She stopped and looked around. There were no houses or streets, only stones and grass. She was so scared. She heard sounds and footsteps. She screamed because she was imagining stuff. She started seeing skeleton trees, ghosts and goblins. That’s when she stopped and began to cry. All of a sudden she woke up. It was all a dream, but today was Halloween. She knew not to go trick or treating alone!

Vampire Ghost by Kamryn Laws
I am afraid of ghosts. Vampires will bite people. I will run away from vampire ghosts so they won’t get me for dinner!

The Dream by Dianna Whited
Once upon a time there was a little girl that went down to her basement and opened up a box. A ghost came out of the box and said, “Boo, little girl! I am going to get you so you better get out of my house!” I called back, “I am not scared of you, so come on. I am going to tell my mom and dad. They will come down here !” That’s when she woke up and told her mom and dad about her dream. They were so, so, so, so scared and spooked!

Haunted House by April Worthen
Once upon a time there was a little blue house that my mom and dad lived in. It was haunted, she said. But I did not believe it. So she took me in it. I was crying because I was only 2 years old. Ever since then I believed in ghosts but now that I’m 9 years old I love to hear scary stories and I love to watch Goosebumps and more!

Mrs. Wright's friends write about their experiences! Read all about them!

my three cats.
One is Max, he likes to play
with your feet at night. He hides
under the bed and when I walk by,
he jumps out and plays,
then runs and hides again.
The second one is Sassy.
She is lazy. When I try to play
she just sits there. When I jump on
the bed then look up, she’ll be gone.
My last cat named Lucy is a big cat
who does the same as Sassy and
does not want to play.
I love my three cats.
