It was nine o’clock in the morning and I was three years old.  While my nana was cooking breakfast I was watching my favorite TV show on Cartoon Network called Pokémon. When my papa woke up and I asked him to take off my training wheels and teach me how to ride a bike without them. He did because he loves me very much.

He taught me how to ride with no training wheels by holding onto the middle of my handlebars and giving me a push. I started to pedal and just then I fell off and rolled into the clothesline pole. I cried then my nana came out. I stopped crying when my uncle Blake came home in my Daddy’s white Pathfinder.

Papa left and then came back with his friend named Willy. He had two fluffy white puppies that jumped out and licked me.  Then everyone gathered around to watch me ride without training wheels so then my papa pushed me then I pedaled. I hit my brakes and turned right and made a big tire mark.  So until this very day I can still ride a bike the way my Papa taught me even though he past away.

Amarian
I think I can ride my bike, I told myself one day.  That’s when my cousin taught me how to. I kept falling off my bike and I went bam!!! She kept saying, “You can do this,” and I said, “I can’t do this!”

On my second try I ran in to the wall and skinned my leg. I got on it the third time and I rode it.  They were proud of me and I was too. After that my grandmother bought me a bike for Christmas.  When my cousin got her bike we both rode around the town and it was windy. We were both happy.

One time I was about 4 years old and my brother had an Xbox-360. He had game called Call of Duty 4 that he let me play once and a while.   One time and it was me against him & he bet against me and won. I said, “Let’s play another game!” and I thought I think I can win this time!
We started the game and I was scared. I was hiding all the time but when he would find me I would shoot him & go to a different hiding spot.
Guess what? I won! I was so proud of myself but my brother said, “Be quiet! I let you win!”  I said, “No you didn’t! You’re just jealous because I won.” I knew I could do it all along.

Bianca

There was once a boy named Tom. Tom had three brothers, two sisters, and a baby sister. Tom did chores every day, but one of his brothers didn’t. They all tried to get their brother Sam, the one who didn’t do chores, to help do chores.

One night Jessica tried talking to Sam, but it didn’t work. Soon dinner was ready, and everybody ate then went to bed. Sam couldn’t sleep, so he went to the window and saw something glowing in the night sky. It was a fairy. The fairy said to Sam … You should  do  chores like the rest of your family, Sam, and if you don’t I will vanish  you from your family forever.

The next day Sam ate breakfast and did all the chores with help from Jessica and Tom, who knew he could do it all along!

When I started preschool I was shy. The first day I went home and I had no marks. But another day I had three marks, how horrible! My dad was so mad he said, “You have three marks. I’m punishing you for one week!” That was mean but I deserved it. When first grade started I had no marks again. Each day at the beginning of school I had no marks! That was great for me! When second grade started my mom thought I had a mark at the first day of school me being in second grade! So third grade came and fourth is coming. Some things are hard. Nothing is wrong with me. I’ll see you later!

On the first day that I rode my skateboard I was scared to ride it. When I rode it I fell off and hurt my leg but I got up and tried it again.  I got better at it every time until I could finally ride the skateboard.

I think I can work in a hunting place. I can get a gun to test people. I can sell a lot of stuff. I can go hunting and shoot a gun if I want to. I can shoot, I think. I can shoot a bow and arrow and practice at home.

Ericka
Hi! My name is Ericka. One day I said, “I think I can get straight A+’s!”  But I didn’t. I got a D but I didn’t’ get in trouble. They were just mad.  I finally got ten A+’s in the 3rd quarter and my mom was proud of me. We went out to YaYa’s Island.  I got a prize. It was a bear. It was a big one, too! It was so big it could not fit through the door. All because I kept saying to myself, I can get straight A+’s!

Hailey
One day mom, dad, and I went to try our first sushi.  It was delicious!  My favorite was the spider roll.  It has rice, seaweed, and some other stuff.  I wasn’t sure it was going to be yummy, but I tried it.  Ever since, we eat it sometimes.

J'Once
When I grow up I want to be a softball player.  I know how to throw a softball.  I train almost everyday catching and hitting the softball.  I throw at first base.  Just someday I will be a pro in softball.  Now I am going to keep my grades up to do it and keep getting good grades to get through high school.

Even when I am far away I will visit my family.  My family will be there for me when I lose or win.  I’ll never leave a family member behind.  We will have cookouts at my house.  I’ll have two kids, a girl and a boy, and they will be my lucky charm because that is what my mom calls me.

When I am far away I’ll think about them through the whole game and all of my other family who could not make it to see me. But first I will have to go to school and get an education.  I’ll do it for my kids and so I can become pro.  That’s what I want to do with my life.

Ma’Kah
When I was a baby I went to day care.  I was too shy to go in my classroom because the kids were looking at me like I was crazy. I started to shed tears. My mom said, “What’s wrong?” I thought she was going to take me out of there, but she didn’t. I screamed my head off. She told me she was coming back to get me.

When she came back she talked to my teacher about how I did in school that day. I had to go back on my birthday and I said to myself, I think I can, I think I can. My mom said to me, “You will be all good.” When I walked in my teacher told me that she had a good friend for me and her name was Dezaray Jonison. She became my best friend, in fact, she was my BFF!

Manshi
One day my cousin came to visit. He didn’t want his old bike so he gave it to me. I didn’t know how to ride it, but my dad pushed me when I rode it. He got a pain in his back, so he taught me how to ride a bike like he did.

He took the bike outside and told me to sit on the seat. Then he said, “Put one handle up.” After that he said, “Put your foot on one of the pedals.”  Finally he said, “Now push!” So I did and I rode the bike by myself for the first time.

Malachi
It was my turn. I got on the diving board and I started to bounce. I wanted to get off but the people behind me wouldn’t let me. So there I was standing on the diving board scared all the way down to my toes when there’s like five people saying HURRY UP!

My mom was sitting watching me and my dad was eating some nachos. Still people were saying HURRY UP! So I jumped in. I quickly got out of the water and knew it wasn’t that bad after all. My mom was so proud of me but my dad was still eating nachos. I was like, dad!, but I was also so proud of myself.

Taliya
One day when I was in the cafeteria my tooth was loose.  It was a baby tooth. At first I was afraid to pull it because I thought I couldn’t. My friends named Mrs. Maloney, Bianca, Manshi, and Makyah kept on telling me to pull it.  I kept on saying, I think I can, I think I can. (You should trust yourself when you say I think I can because it always works!)

When Mrs. Maloney went out to line us up, CLICK!!! It came out because I pulled it! I think I can works for me! Mrs. Maloney sent me to  Mrs. Teresa’s office to get a bag to put my tooth in. I was so totally happy it was a baby tooth and I had pulled it!

Now before I do anything that I think I can’t do I will say I think I can. I think I can do anything when I say I think I can. From now on if I get stuck on an answer or a problem, I will say I think I can!

Valesha
In 2nd grade I tried the high jump at Spring Sports Day. I thought it was going to be hard. When they called the girls and boys to high jump on the loudspeaker I was so nervous.  I saw almost everyone in front of me knock the pole down. Then it was my turn. I was scared.  I jumped as high as I could.  I MADE IT!!! I was so happy.

They raised the bar and we went again. Everyone in front of me knocked the pole down except a girl named Makiyah in 3rd grade. We both made it and jumped again even higher!

It was her turn and she knocked the pole down. After her it was my turn. I jumped so high and soared over the pole. “I won!!! I won!!!” I shouted. They gave me the first place ribbon.

I went home VERY ,VERY  HAPPY! I showed my mom, and she was very proud of me. My brother in 4th grade came home. He said, “When I was in 2nd grade I won high jump.” I knew he was lying. He can’t even jump 10 inches in the air unless he gets on his bed, but I can!

On the Team by William
I think I can stay on the basketball team even though I’ve never been on a team before.  One day when I went to practice, my coach told me I was on the team.  In my first game, my team won!  I was proud of myself.  Now I can work on a team.

When I was a little boy I was afraid to climb the tree because I thought in the real world, something dangerous might happen to me.  I grabbed the tree branch and the next thing I knew, I was at the top of tree!

Dear Veteran,
Thank you for being our HERO and being there for our country. We are very glad and we are thankful for what you have done for us. Thank you for fighting for our country. I am sorry for all of you. Some people even set up white tables for the soldiers who are MIA (missing in action) and POW (prisoners of war). They give their lives up for our country. They risk them and deserve respect and honor. We remember you. I give you hope and love and faith in all things.
Love,

The Spooky Graveyard by Taliyah
I was alone walking around the blackness. I saw a spooky graveyard. There was a ghost in the graveyard and bony bats. I could see their broken bones. Black cats were everywhere. There was disgusting blood, too and scary jack o’ lanterns in the way. They all had a zap. I called them fools, that was unexpected. Noisy mummies, candles, candy corn, cobwebs. I was afraid.

Story by Scott
Once upon a time a werewolf came into a school and started making scary noises.  No one saw him because he was also a ghost of a dead werewolf.  He was so scary that everyone in school ran around in circles terrified of him.  When a little boy was walking in the hallway he saw the werewolf and he became a werewolf .  After he  became a werewolf he went and scared the whole school to death.  After that the whole school became werewolves.  A goblin came and helped scare the other schools to death.  Then the goblin came and turned everybody into goblins.  The goblins got into a fight with the werewolves and started to bite and throw each other.  They fought until morning .  When the sun came up they turned back into humans and everyone went home to go to sleep.

CRAZY LUNATICS ARE CHASING DEVONTE

Chains rattled but he does not care because he was getting chased.  He ran in the house and grabbed a gun but there were no bullets.  He did not know they had chains, knives, dogs and all.  I was scared so I went in and got my dog and the lunatics ran.  I went  back in with my dog Smokey to watch TV in my bedroom.  I went to sleep and the  next morning when I took out the trash the lunatics came back in a car.  I ran and they shot me in the leg with a firework so I got my BB gun full of BB’s and hid behind a tree.  When they got out I shot them in the legs until I ran out of BB’s so I had to go home to reload.  When I got back outside I took care of them.

ONCE I WENT TO A HAUNTED HOUSE by William
I went to a haunted house and when I went inside a man was following me around.  He went away then we noticed people jumping out of nowhere trying to catch us.  We got out quickly and everyone was scared.  After we all went home we had nightmares.  My Mom tried to scare us and then we saw my sister.  There was blood so we ran to another room and saw more blood until we ran to my Dad.

CHAIR WITH HANDS AND THE HALLOWEEN PARTY by Ayushi
Once there was a
Halloween house and
People were having
A Halloween party
There and they were
Dressed as monsters
One of them was
Dressed as a mummy
There were eight of them
And they put
A pumpkin outside
I also saw a skeleton
And a cat and they
All made lots of noise
And they said boo
But something scary
Came in it was the
Chair
The chair caught
All the party people
And he turned them
Into ghosts.

THE BOY WHO GOT EATEN by Manshi
Once upon a time in an old old old house there was a boy and his parents.  The boy’s name was Caros and he was very interested in monters and ghosts.  He had a dream that he would find a ghost in this house.  One day he found blood curdling.  He found his parents in a frozen spot.  He was scared there were so many monsters and ghosts.  Just at that moment his parents came to and said we are going to a hotel.  When they got there the hotel’s decorations were scary.  They went to the manager but he wasn’t there.  They thought he had gone on his break.  They went upstairs and Caros saw a door but his parents were not looking at him.  Caros opened the door and there was a mummy and it was moving!  He closed the door and ran away.  On his way a monster was standing there and he ate that boy!  His parents turned around and saw Caros dead.  Mom was looking at a room and suddenly she saw a ghost.  The ghost ate Caros’ Mom.  Then Dad was alone and a snake came and bit him and he was dead.

THE SPOOKY COSTUME by Amarion
Once upon a time there was a boy named Jack-O-Lantern.  People laughed at him so he got an invisible costume.  He went trick or treating and went to the bully’s house and went inside.  The bully said what do you want?  Jack said, “I want some candy, my friend.”  The bully said, “I don’t have any so get out of here!”  “I’m not scared of you, I can turn into a mummy!”

THE SCARY MANSION by Bianca
O
nce there lived three children named Todd, Carl and Sally who lived in a large spooky mansion.  One night Todd was having trouble sleeping so he tried to wake up his brother, Carl but he was too sleepy to talk so he just laid in bed and pretended not to hear Todd.  Todd’s talking woke Sally up so she decided to ask him what was going on.  “What’s going on Todd?”  Sally asked.  Todd answered “Well I was just having problems sleeping in this big scary house and I wanted to see if Carl would stay up and talk with me for awhile.”  Sally told Todd that she was having trouble sleeping also.  The moon was full that night and the children could hear spooky sounds all through the halls.  They heard booms and knocks and  maybe even clicking and tapping sounds.  “Why do we have to live in this scary old house anyway?” Todd asked.  “Well, Dad said we have to either live here or be homeless but these spooky sounds are giving me the creeps!”  Sally responded.  The sounds were so loud and spooky that Carl could not pretend to be sleeping anymore.  “Enough is enough let’s go get Mom and Dad and get out of this crazy place!”  Carl screamed.  Suddenly a shadowy figure burst through the bedroom door.  “It’s a spooky shadow ghost, let’s run for it!”  the children all yelled as they ran out of the room.  They ran quickly down the hall to their parent’s room.  “Children what’s going on here?”  their parents asked.  “This place is haunted and we need to move out!”  The parents gathered the children and ran for the front door.  The house shook and howled.  Scary bats flew around in the living room.  Goblins danced in the kitchen and skeletons sang songs in the front yard.  “Get in the car children, we’re moving in with Grandma and this house needs to be torn down!”

VERY HAUNTED by J’once
It was a cold night. I was walking to see the haunted house.  As soon as I was walking back home I heard a noise.  Then it was something rattling.  I ran as fast as I could and then I lost my way.  I went to Charles’ house but blood was on the door handle.  Then I went from house to house trying to find my way back home.  I ran through the alley, my back gate was unlocked so I pushed it open.  I grabbed my dog.  Something was following us.  There in the street were blood tracks.  It was all just a prank cause it was Halloween night and I had to get home so that I could get on my costume and go trick or treating.

THE HAUNTED FARM by Avery
Once there was a farm called terror to the children and adults.  It was werewolves in the fields and cows and all kinds of animals live there and got eaten up.  The werewolves went to the farm and there was scary stuff all around.  They lay down and cried because they were scared.  They had fur to keep them warm while they slept there and the next morning there were animals all around them so they had a real nice breakfast.  The owner of the farm came and saw what they had done, got his gun and shot them.

THE HAUNTED WORLD by Ericka
There was a haunted world and I was walking down a dark mysterious road when I heard footsteps behind me.  I  thought it was me but it wasn’t so I was frightened.  I ran so fast I heard noisy sounds in my ears and I started walking.  I saw a body with an ugly face, it was a zombie.  I saw a skeleton and it scared the living daylights out of me.  There was one old house that was very scary with broken windows and cobwebs everywhere.  It had cracks in the door and green footsteps to the door.  It was gross.  I heard a rattle in the hall and it was a wicked witch.  She was so scary and there was a wicked elf, Boo Boo Boo!  There was a dragon, a bat, a black cat, a bogeyman and the horrible Jugs Man.  I saw something running, it was the Hag Man and there were Zombies all around.  Who has makeup to make Zombies, I do!  The headless horseman’s cape ran again I here Boo Boo, I got you!

THE SCARY DRUG MONSTER by Valesha
Once there was a scary drug monster and he ate bats.  He was orange, his face was shaped like a Jack-O-Lantern.  You could not see him because it was dark.  He was horrible.  He ate black cats and he ate spiders.  He drank blood.  I heard that on Halloween he comes out and eats kids.  Then he turns into a ghost on Halloween night.  He sneaks into people’s houses and lights candles and scares people.  He says it’s a joke but it is not.  Then he heard a roar and it was a tiger and he ate it.  Now he is ugly and fat.  He saw a mummy walking.  He said “I’m not scqred of you” then more and more mummies came.  He ran as fast as he could and that was the last time people heard or saw the Drug Monster.  Everyone was happy.  They were so happy that they celebrated, then everyone screamed, terrified.

THE HAUNTED HOUSE by Malachi
Once upon a time there was a place that I thought was haunted.  It had skeletons, vampires and mummies.  I was really afraid.  I saw this man in the window, turned around for a second, looked back and he was gone.  I went home to take a shower and when I turned on the faucet blood started to come out.  I called my Mom into the bathroom to look but when she looked it was normal water.  I got in the shower and saw a rat but it turned out to be the soap.  Then I got out and walked down the hallway to the living room.  I saw more stuff and my Mom couldn’t see it even when I said “You’ve got to believe me!”  When I went to bed my bed started moving.  I didn’t call my Mom because she wouldn’t believe me.  I called my Dad and he didn’t  believe me either.  I went to sleep but had nightmares of skeletons, vampires and monsters all gathered to tell me not to wake up or they would kill me.  I went to school and there was my teacher and little monsters all over my desk.  They were slimy, green and freaky.  So Halloween night I was a Vampire and I went to the Haunted House door and said “trick or treat.”  There were ghosts, a bloody man stuck in the chimney on fire and another man fixing to fall off a balcony.  My Mom could never see the haunted house but it is still there to this day all covered with weeds and vines.

WHEN I WENT TRICK OR TREATING by Hunter
Once when I went trick or treating I went to a house that looked old.  There was an old rusted truck and there were purple pumpkins and Jack-O-Lanterns and there were black cats and bones everywhere.  I thought I heard a Boo! and I shivered.  I heard screams and shrieks and I think I heard a ghost.  I ran out and bats followed me.  I saw a dark, black dragon on my way out.  I finally got out and they tore the house down.  I think the dragon lives somewhere else in England.

THE SPOOKY NIGHT by Hailey
One Halloween night a girl went trick or treating alone.  When she went to an old house she knocked on the bloody door.  When it opened no one was there.  She thought there were ghosts there.  There were not.  There was darkness and silence.  She walked in quickly.  The floor creaked and she got out quickly.  By the time got to the door, it closed and she was locked in.  She looked around.  Blood was drying on the walls and a skeleton walked toward her.  She screamed and the skeleton ate her.  She was never seen again.  Even though skeletons are bone, she wasn’t seen when she went down the throat.  Her ghost is still there but her body isn’t.  Stay away from that old house or it can happen to you!

THE SPOOKY HOUSE by Daviantae
There was once a boy who saw a shadow of his Mom and followed it.  His Mom was asleep but he didn’t know that.  Her shadow popped off yesterday so he followed it today to a library.  He looked for a book to read but the shadow got him and he never returned.

THE DEAD MAN WHO CAME BACK TO LIFE by Brandon
Once upon a time there was blood on the floor.  An ugly man was a zombie, a noisy zombie.  Roar a dragon, ate a boy. Zap! Ahhh!  A boy yells.  Goose bumps!  A headless zombie.  Boo!  Gross!

Spooky Poem by Hunter
Once I went
To a haunted
House. I was
Seeing bones
Hearing bats
In the house.
Seeing somebody
In a mask
Chasing you
See a monster
Hearing somebody
Scream
Or a whistle
Somebody
Whisper to
You!

I Love by Scott
I love when a
teacher teaches
us math and
writing. When he
teaches us math
he helps us learn
how to do division
and times. He also
helps us learn how
to count pennies, nickels,
dimes, quarters, half-dollars,
and dollar coins in math.
In writing, we are doing
a poem. When I’m
learning I’m sitting and looking
at the teacher. I’m blocking
all the sounds that are not
words that the teacher is saying.
I see Mr. Dietrich explaining
five times three.
I love when a
teacher teaches us.

Basketball by Avery
I love a lot of things
like
playing basketball and
I like shaking people up while I
am dribbling down the court.

I like feeling the air while
I am dribbling down the court
to make a layup. When I go up
in the air and dunk it,
I feel the air swoosh and
the rim is nice and soft. When I
shoot my free throws I get
nervous. Then when the ref gives
me the ball, I dribble and
get me some luck and I shoot it
and I hear a swoop sound that
I like and coach says “Good Job!”
while the crowd shouts real loud.

Somebody passes it to my friend
at the center of the court.
He goes for the three-pointer line
and he shoots the three.
His bounces off of the backboard
and it’s his first time
making
a three-pointer.
I love basketball!

We hid. You seek.
So everybody hid.
So the seeker has to

I Love by J’Once

I love a lot of things
like
when my brother laughs,
his new haircut,
those big beaver teeth biting,
Man, he’s a mess!
Even when he’s hitting
he still gets in the corner.
Daddy says stop that
but he keeps on going.
On the second time Buddy ran
to mom, she said What’s wrong?
He says, Daddy hit me. Mom said,
That’s what you get. When your
daddy says stop that, you
stop that.
They come to my games and
he’s hollering, JJ hit ball!

I Love by Hunter

I love the sound
of my dirt bike.
It goes really fast.
My dirt bike is
a racing dirt bike.
It goes about
100 miles per hour.
I always go muddin’
in the creek in the country.
It rumbles so loud.
If you stand next to it,
it will hurt your ears.
I love the sound
of my dirt bike.

I Love by Amarion
I love a lot of things
like
watching my brother play
football
at Tilghman High School.
He catches the ball and runs in the rain,
soaking wet running down the field.
I holler, “Run, run, Number 17!
You can do this!”
Everybody else saying, “Woooohoo!”
It is fun to watch them play football.
My brother is so sporty; he plays
football, he runs track,
he plays basketball, too.
But football is my thing.
When they kick the ball
it goes boom!
The crowd goes wild!
They are hollering wildly!
The team is happy, 62 to 66!
Everybody stays and the crowd
still goes wild saying, “Go, Tilghman!”
I feel happy screaming, “Rock on Tilghman!”

I Love by Hailey
I love things
like
my grandma.
She is funny and she has
two dogs named
Quincey and Cocoa.
She spoils me a lot
and is very nice.
She calls me Haileybug
sometimes. It’s annoying,
but I don’t mind.
Her hair is nice and fluffy
and she always loves me
a lot.
She always makes me
laugh.
When I open the door
she loves me up.
When it’s my birthday
she surprises me with a cake.
I feel happy with my Grandma with
I’m there.

I Love by Davontae
I love
jumping
out of the swing in a jump
out of the swing
contest.
And I love
to win,
to be the best.
I love to jump
out the swing right.
I hear the swing moving
because they are broken.
I feel the bars I am supposed
to hold onto and they feel good.
I feel the mud when I land
on my knees; I don’t feel
it when I land on my feet!
But I still like to jump
out of my swing.
I can do backflips, too.
I can do a backflip and
land on my feet from
high up in the swing.
Jumping out of the swing
is the best thing I’ve ever done.
It feels like I’m about to sing,
I believe I can fly.
It feels like I can touch the
starts in the sky.

I play it at school, my house,
and at my friend’s house. We
have so much fun playing soccer
that we play it every day. We play
soccer almost everywhere we go.
I run, then I kick. Yes!
I won the game! My team helps
me win. I love them so much.
Soccer is so much fun.
I love playing it!

the sound of me bouncing
up in the air at Ya Ya’s
Island and screaming.
I love to do whatever
I want at Ya Ya’s Island.
I also like to go on the
big slide. I make loud noises
when I go on that slide.
I love the delicious
food they serve. I like the
pizza and the soda they have
there. I like looking at the lizards,
parrots, sharks, sea urchins…I love
dressing up and chasing my sister.
I like to go back up the slide
over and over again. I love
being at Ya Ya’s Island, especially
with my friends.
