Dr. Copeland by Tara
I want to be a doctor to help people get better. I will work at a hospital.  I can check people’s hearts and give surgery to my patients. I can work in the emergency room. I want work the night shift. I want to treat babies, kids and adults. I will wear scrubs everyday.

I want to be a doctor because I can help a lot of people. I can go to UK to become a doctor. While I’m in college I will think to myself I Think I Can!  The first time I give surgery I will be scared, but I’ll always say, I Think I Can!

I Think I Can by Faith
When I grow up I want to be a nurse just like my mom and nana. I play with my cousin. She has a nursing set. It is fun because we get to check in. She has a computer and we check our babies and see what is wrong with them. We take turns. That is what I want to be. It will make me happy.

My mom is getting ready to be a nurse. She is in the RPN group at school. Sometimes I hear her study and then when she gets done I will ask her what she learned. She will tell me what she learned and I will say, “Good,” and then I will go over it with her.

My aunt is also getting ready to be a nurse. I go over to her house and study with her. It is fun because we go over it a bunch. That is what I want to be when I grow up. I know I will be a good nurse. I will try my best!

Playing for the NBA by Amante
I want to become a NBA player but I have to finish school so I can try out for basketball. I’m already on the elementary team so I need to keep the work up. I’m going to North Carolina for college. It is the best college and my favorite player played for them. His name is Tyler Hansboro. His number is 50. I want to play for the Cleveland Cavaliers. I would dunk through the basket, then I would dribble through my legs. I will be the number one draft pick. They will say my number is 23 just like LeBron James. Since I think I can become a NBA player, I will reach my goal!

The Time I… by Ahquavion
Hi, my name is Ahquavion and I’m here to tell you about the time I played football. The time I played football I was nervous. “What if they hurt me? What if they don’t like me?” I was thinking in my head, “Okay Quavie, you can do this, you can do this!”
I went into Tilghman and I saw a lot of trophies. I got excited. The trophies I saw was were big, shiny and gold. I hoped I would get one just like theirs.

A few days later was the game. The real game. I was a cornerback. I said in my head, “What if I don’t catch the ball? What if I run before I’m supposed to? What if we lose?”

I tried my best to win. I ran to tackle the running back. Then I went to sit on the bench to let the offense play. Next I tried safety, but that didn’t work out so well. Before I knew it, it was over. We won! I will never forget that day. Now I’m trying something new.

Lawyer by Lonnell
When I grow up, I can become a lawyer. I can be in some business. I can help businesses when they get in trouble. I will be in a suit with a striped tie with a black briefcase. The briefcase will have important papers. I will be the best lawyer I can be.

I will be in court talking to the judge. I will get the important papers out of my briefcase with ease, but I won’t even need them. I will try to make the judge believe my client. I will be a good speaker. I will be sure to get some sleep after my job for the next case. I think I can be a great lawyer.

Jumping off a Diving Board by Anna
Once my friends were bugging me to jump of a diving board, but I was scared to. They kept bugging and bugging me so finally I went to the diving board.

When I first jumped off it was not so bad. I did it again and again and they never bugged me again. Jumping off the diving board was fun. After that, every time I went to the pool I jumped off the diving board and I swam some with my baby sister. My cousins came with me too, and sometimes my friends.

Now when I go off the diving board, I sometimes do cart wheels, back flips, and front flips. Sometimes I do 3 cartwheels and 9 back flips and 12 cartwheels. At times, when I jump in the water I feel like I am drowning. Bubbles come up and pop, one at a time.

When my mom first say that happen, she said, “Ha! Anna went under water.” I was really scared that she would not take me out, but she did. Bubbles kept coming up, popping just like my fear of jumping off the diving board.

I Think I Can by Ronald
I want to be an MX rider on the ramp at the park. When they do lazy boy in the air, it’s cool. Lazy boy is where the rider puts his feet on the handlebars and his hands behind his head. When they do kick face, that is the coolest stuff I know. A different cool trick is 360. That’s all I can say. I feel cool thinking about being an MX rider.

The Teacher by Xavier
I think I will be a teacher. I can teach what I want to.  I want to be a   teacher because I can meet other kids. I can have fun with the kids. If they are bad I would have to give them a mark but I won’t want to.

I want to be a teacher so I can read them books. I can teach them something new.  I can give them treats if they are good. I can have parties with the kids. I can play with the kids and I can let them get on the computer.

I want to be a teacher so I can give quizzes. When I am a teacher my room will be big and have posters with open desks with metal bars on the bottom. My room would have a Smart Board, and four computers so the student can take A.R. tests on them.

I think I would make a great teacher because I am a loud talker, I am not afraid to stand up in front of people, and I love to teach kids.  The next time you see me, I think I will be a teacher.

Barber by Tayshawn
I want to become a barber.  I’ll cut hair. I can cut people’s hair with clippers.  I will wear a cape.  I’ll ask my customers what they want in their hair.  I’ll ask them how they want their hair cut.

I’ll call it Tayshawn’s Barber shop.  I’ll be located in the Paducah Mall. There will be lots chairs, and pictures on the wall.  I am going to have magazines for grownups and kids to read. I will work Monday through Sunday from 8 to 5. When I cut hair I will always say I think I can!

 Becoming a Chef by Angel
I think I can become a chef. I love to cook. My mom and dad are teaching me how to cook. They taught me a lot about cooking already. First they taught me how to cook scrambled eggs. Then second, they taught me how to make pancakes. I got to put everything in a bowl and mix it up. My favorite food to cook is Ramen noodles. I put them in a pot with hot water. I stir it with a big fork. I put in the beef flavoring and put it in a bowl. Then I eat them.

I know how to make a lot of food. I think I can be a chef because I can make good food and I love to cook different kinds of recipes. I have learned a lot from my parents. They are the best!

Fast Rides by Marisol
Once upon a time in California lived a nice little girl named Marisol Arredondo. She was scared of big heights like roller coasters and stages. That girl was me!

My mom and family always said, “When we go to Six Flags, you are riding roller coasters.” I had tried to go on roller coasters but I was so scared.

Later I went to Six Flags with my family. Before we got on the ride I already had butterflies in my stomach. When we were waiting in the line I felt brave for going on a roller coaster that was named Batman. When I stepped foot on the coaster I was twice as nerves. I wanted to get off so badly so I did. Then we went to the Screaming Eagle. I kept saying to myself I think I can, I think I can. I was so nervous and scared at the same time. My face looked so happy. I was never scared but when we went on, OOOOOOOH, that was fast! I almost passed out but by the time it was over I was o.k. and I told my mom.

The last ride was The Joker. It gave me butterflies. Afterwards, I thought, what do you know? I made it through the coasters. I always told my mom if I can go to Six Flags, I think I can make it. And I did.

The thing I want to be most is a basketball player. That is my favorite sport.  I would like to shoot hoops and score. I will be on the nets and if we win will say nice game. Our coach, Mr. Monte, will be proud of us.

When we play we have our arms, legs, and hands doing all the work. It is great but the thing is, you have to do a good job in school and keep your grades up. I will have a great life and I won’t smoke. That’s how I will be a basketball player.

I Think I Can by Norman

I play basketball Monday through Friday. When I started to play basketball, every time I tried to shoot I would miss it. I thought practice would make me better. I think I can, I said to myself. The next year I got better.

This year my team hasn’t lost a game. We’re 18-0! This makes me excited. During a game when it’s my turn to shoot I say, I think I can. This helps me shoot. Now my dream is to become an NBA player. The college I want to play for is North Carolina. I hope to get drafted to the Cavaliers and can be number one. I’m going to think I can and practice hard to become an NBA star.

Playing Football by Raequan

I like football because I can run the football and I can throw it and hit people and catch the ball. I can get interceptions and wear my jersey and win trophies and make touchdowns and fumble the ball. I can strip the ball from people and make my parents yell out to me to do better. I can be a quarterback and make good plays. I will always try to do my best and do well in practice. I listen to my coach and do what my coach tells me to do. I also work hard and do my best and make good plays so my parents will be proud of me. My thing is to be in the NFL. I want to play for the Chargers and beat all of the teams and win some trophies. I want my number to be 22, the best on the team. I will make good touchdowns and good tackles and good throws and good fumbles and good catches!

I Think I Can Become by Katriona

I think I can
become a K-9 cop.
I would go on search and rescues with my dog.
He would be a German
Shepherd named Jack.
I don’t think Jack,
would lack a single thing.

When I start training
I better keep on saying
“I think I can, I think I can!”

We need to be able to do our
job for this town’s safety.
If there is trouble you never
know where the criminal
might go next.

We both need to be alert,
and save the stores from robbery
but, we are trained and ready to fight!

PHANTOM GHOST  by Katriona
I am the phantom ghost.
I creep in the night.
You see me in your dreams.

You probably think I’m just a shadow,
But I’m really there.
So if you like a good scare just ask me, the phantom ghost.
Because you’ll be in for the scare of your life!

I am the phantom ghost.
I creep in the night.
You see me in your dreams.

At dawn the dragon comes to life.
The werewolf comes to release his howl.
They are my best buddies!
I am the phantom ghost.

SPOOKY HOUSE by Lonnell
One night there was a house it was spooky and scary. I knocked on the door and heard a noise. It was a really big bump. I opened the door but nobody was there. I heard somebody behind me I turned around but nobody was there. I went all the way in the house and saw a ghost it said BOO! BOO! I was scared I screamed help nobody came so I ran as fast as I could, I looked back and didn’t see it but then he was right in front of me. I was so scared I ran and got on my bike but the tire was flat, so I aired it up. I was riding my bike so fast I lost him.

HAUNTED HOUSE by Tara
There was a haunted house in Sara’s back yard. When she looked out the window it was dark and spooky. Sara was too scared to go inside. The house made shadows and looked scary. There were bones in the windows and doors. Sara went upstairs and saw a black cat. She was scared so went back down the stairs but the front door shut and she couldn’t get out. She thought there might be a ghost. Something was touching her on her shoulder. She tried to break the back window but the ghost grabbed here and took her upstairs. She went to her room and yelled for her mom who got her out of the house.

VAMPIRE KID by Xavier
One night I found a machine I went in it and found a coffin I opened it and saw a vampire. It opened its eyes I tried to run but it used its vampire speed to catch and bite me. I turned into a vampire and a bat my teeth got long. Then a man put garlic in my mouth and I turned back to a normal kid.

If I had a penguin I would learn how to take care of him. Like going to catch fish, krill and squid. I would have to find a place where it is cold and put ice on him. He will like that. And when he wakes up he probably will go tobogganing down the stairs and will waddle a lot. I will name it Anthony. He will be my penguin and I will love him.
